CSA Z463 is the Standard governing the electrical maintenance of industrial, commercial and institutional electrical power systems. Failure of Electrical systems due to poor maintenance results in a greatly increased risk of serious injury or fatality in the workplace as well as costly equipment damage and downtime. Development and implementation of an effective maintenance strategy is key in mitigating these hazards in an effective timely manner.

CSA Z463 has been designed to complement CE Code, CSA Z462 (Workplace Electrical Safety) and CSA Z460 (Control of Hazardous Energy) to help to encourage implementation of safe equipment operations and procedures. This comprehensive one-day CSA Z463 workshop provides invaluable information to anyone who wishes to know and understand the role of the new CSA Z463 Electrical Maintenance Guideline, which governs the procedures for the optimal maintenance of electric power systems.

Who should attend: This course is a must for electrical engineers, planners, electrical maintenance personnel, plant electricians, electrical contractors, power specialists, maintenance managers, consultants and technologists responsible for the design, construction, installation, inspection, operation, or maintenance of electrical systems, electrical technicians, inspectors, safety personnel and other employees responsible for the operation and maintenance of electrical systems in a commercial, industrial, institutional setting.

You will be able to: Gain an understanding of CSA Z463 electrical maintenance guidelines.

  • This course builds awareness for electrical maintenance and what is required for safety and reliability.

    Marcus Nagy, Canfor Pulp
  • This course was a good overview of CSA-Z463 and had lots of discussion with context on different aspects.

    Brock Zinovich, Weyerhaeuser
  • This course felt like it was written for people who work in my position. I take a few online courses per year and am often disappointed. This was not the case with Norm and the CSA 463 course. His flow, engagement, and frequent but short breaks all worked perfectly for my learning style.

    Cory Wilson, Western Forest Products
  • The course was a useful review of the CSA Z463 standard, a standard up until now I was unfamiliar with. The course confirmed that at Skookumchuck our electrical maintenance program is generally well designed, with some areas for improvement in terms of devices we are testing.
